Snapper RE200 RE1330 Riding Lawn Mower Review

By Janet Ashby

The Snapper RE200 RE1330 riding lawn mower is one of the top machines in its class and has many useful features. The thirty inch cutting deck is not as large as some but has an efficient single blade and a tight twelve inch turning area. Distribution of the clippings is to the right side and is generally even. Wet grass of long grass does cause some clogging however so keeping the grass mowed regularly and mowing when the grass is reasonably dry is a good idea. The blade can be adjusted between 1 and 3.75 inches.

The Snapper Ground Hugger Traction lets the rear wheels turn independently from the front axle and the frame. The auto leveling system keeps the mower level when on uneven ground for a cleaner cut and is effective even when performing tight turns. This feature makes trimming around obstacles such as plant beds and garden benches is particularly easy.

The rear mounted Briggs & Stratton 13 hp engine gives a top speed of only 5 mph so the time taken to mow an area of lawn, especially with the small deck, is longer than many other mowers of this class. A hand control is used for forward and reverse operation and it achieves equal speeds in both directions.

The frame of this Snapper riding mower is made from steel and is sturdy. The fuel tank, at 2 gallons capacity is average for this type of mower but slightly small if you have a large yard to mow. The Snapper RE200 RE1330 is reasonably comfortable with an adjustable seat and a high back. It lacks a few extra however such as a cup holder which would be reasonable to expect on a machine in this price range.

The machine itself is quite heavy at 415 pounds so transporting it could be a problem. Overall the Snapper RE200 RE1330 performs well and the auto leveling system delivers an excellent cut.
Advantages

Good traction, small turning radius, excellent cut
Disadvantages

Small tank, lacks some features, pricey
