Review of the Cub Cadet CC-500 BAT

By Janet Ashby

The Cub Cadet CC-500 BAT is a cordless electric mower that is environmentally friendly and easy to use. It is quieter and lower maintenance than a gas powered mower and is clean and well built. This cordless model can be used in areas too far away from power outlets to use a corded model and the power output of today's cordless models rivals that of gas powered lawn mowers.

The three in one deck has a unique CycloCut system and the blade has been engineered with a front to back upward curved slope. A cyclone effect is created by the blade and the deck to keep cuttings suspended in the air for repeat cuttings. A good vacuum will produce a finer mulch which is then deposited on the lawn as a fertiliser.

Power is supplied by a 48 volt battery that is designed for a long life, excellent cutting power and minimal impact on the environment. In the past lack of power has been a problem with cordless electric lawn mowers but models today are much more powerful and are comparable to gas powered models.

The wheels are fitted with ball bearings which make maneuvering and rolling much easier and makes a real difference to the handling of this push mower. A single lever controls the cutting height, unlike some models which need each wheel individually adjusted. The cutting height is adjustable between 1" and 3 1/2" in seven increments. Accidental start ups are prevented with the lock out key.

Overall the Cub Cadet CC-500 BAT has impressive cutting power and features and a very efficient mulching system.

Advantages

Low maintenance, clean to use, long battery life, good handling, efficient mulching

Disadvantages

Bagging is not as efficient as most gas powered models
